Randolph High School Senior, Ethan Humphrey, Develops “Run Mapper” Mobile Application Now Available on iTunes

Ethan Humphrey is entering his last few weeks as a senior at Randolph High School. During his time at Randolph, Ethan has been heavily involved in numerous honor societies. He is also President of Robotics Club and is on the board of Computer Club where he has participated in competitions like CyberPatriot where participants are tasked with securing computers against hackers. In his spare time, Ethan has used his passion for computer science to begin to work on projects that can add value to people’s lives. His latest project Run Mapper, available on iTunes today, is a brand-new mobile application he developed to help runners navigate their routines...

Randolph Students Observe Hour of Code

Randolph students observed the international hour of code the week in December with special activities and lessons which opened up the world of code to students.

Fernbrook students in grades 1-5 celebrated the event by learning the basics of computer science as they wrote computer code using the www.code.org website, a non-profit site dedicated to teaching computer science to students. Coding is what makes it possible to create computer software, apps and websites, said media specialist Michele Savvides. “Programming (coding) skills are becoming increasingly important; quickly turning into a significant competency for the 21st century.” ...

Randolph High School Student Designs APP to Help Students and Will Attend Apple Conference

When it comes to computer science and technology, Ethan Humphrey of Randolph seems to be a step ahead as he has already patented his first app and mingled with other developers around the world.


A rising junior at Randolph High School, Humphrey received a scholarship to attend Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held in San Jose, Calif., June 4 to June 8. He was selected based on his application to join 350 other developers from around the world from 42 different countries who spoke 34
different languages, he says...

At the 2015 Bermuda Tech Awards for “Most Innovative Youth Project,” app developers S9 Ethan Humphrey won 2nd place and S10 Gabriel Jones was a finalist

In the “Most Innovative Youth Project” category at the 2015 Bermuda Tech Awards, S9 Ethan Humphrey placed 2nd and S10 Gabriel Jones was a finalist for the apps each developed.

S9 Ethan Humphrey designed an app that organises his school schedule:  “It can show the timetable for two weeks, what homework is due and when.  It can also be set to give reminders and completed work can be checked off as completed.”  Ethan started making his app using the MIT app inventor last year and developed it into a student planner which fellow Saltus students can download (for free) from the Google Playstore and the Apple app store.  Ethan said, “It’s made my school life easier and I hope it does the same for other students at Saltus.”  Ethan has developed a similar app for Saltus teachers (also available at Google Playstore and the Apple app store).  These apps can be adapted for use in other schools...
